[The usual clipped Zemnian accent is somehow even more so. He's a little stressed. He becomes more fantasy German when he is stressed.]
Jester. We need to discuss something very important. An old friend has turned up. And time being what it is here. He is from the past. And we need to decide how we handle this. For his sake. And ours.
[She wasn't there when Molly died. She, Fjord, and Yasha had been taken by the Iron Shepherds at that point. She had always felt guilty that she wasn't there to help him. She would have done all she could to stop them from killing him.
[But by the time things end, there's three different versions of Molly she knows - Mollymauk, the original, Lucien, and then Kingsley. Kingsley would tell them his name. Lucien wouldn't. Lucien would lie.
Maybe they have to go about this differently than she originally thought.]
[Jester's thoughtful. It's not often that she gets serious, because she'd rather stay happy then think of things looming over them. She has friends who are serious for her. Like she relies on Caleb to be serious for her in situations like this.]
Reasonably certain, yes. He seems to be the Mollymauk I remember. I do not know if I believe Lucien could be quite so convincing through the handicap of his ego. But it would not be a bad idea to verify. I am, unfortunately, not capable of any truth spells. That is more, well, your remit.
[A sigh, and then in a quieter tone, softly hopeful.]
I want to believe it really is Mollymauk. Before we lost him.
I think maybe we tell him something happens? I don't know exactly what happened, except there was a fight. Maybe... maybe we give him the option to know? Let him decide?
[That seemed best, right?] I think I would want to have a choice.
Essek and I have been here for more than a year now... and of all the Exandrians who have been here, none have been anyone I have known from back home. But now there is you and Veth and Mollymauk. I wonder if we should expect the others to follow.
I wouldn't tempt it, you know? If all of us are showing up so suddenly, then maybe it is a sign!
We should put together something to prepare everyone. Like 'instructions on surviving your first month' or something!
[Jester's excitement dies down a little.] I'm really glad I'm here with you, Caleb. But I'm sad we're stuck here without everyone else. We all deserve to be home.

You are better at people. Please help.

So: which old friend? How far in the past? How big of a lie do we have to tell them?
no subject
[A VERY BIG LIE. Or a very very gentle truth?? Caleb doesn't know.]
And it is so very good to see him, but also. I do not know how to handle this.
[He's seen this play out with other people before. ]
Perhaps he deserves to know the truth. Or perhaps he deserves to live without that burden. What do we do?

The shock is evident on her face.]

Are... are you sure it's Molly?

[She purses her lips.] I believe you, Caleb. if you think it's Molly, then it's Molly.
[She takes a deep breath then lets it out in a very dramatic fashion.] So I think telling him he's dead is not an option?
no subject
[Just in case. But. Right yes that.]
Ha. That is... the difficult question. Do we tell him? It seems cruel to tell him. It seems dishonest not to.
[Hmm.] Would you want to know? If you were in his very fancy boots?
no subject
[That seemed best, right?] I think I would want to have a choice.

[A pause.]
Gently. With perhaps all of us together. And liquor.

...but maybe keep Veth away from it?
no subject
Perhaps so. Though she has it in hand.
[Caleb does have to wonder though.]
